Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja after being re-arraigned on a 7-count amended charge of cyberstalking. The Inspector General of Police had presented her before the court, where she pleaded not guilty to all charges.
During proceedings, the prosecution requested a short adjournment to open their case, while the defence applied for bail. The prosecution opposed bail, claiming the actress had allegedly jumped her previous administrative bail, and that her sureties could not be located. The alleged offences carry prison sentences ranging from 3 to 5 years.
Angela Okorie’s counsel argued that she did not evade bail but attended a medical check-up, which she had informed the police about. After considering submissions, Justice Emeka Nwite granted bail in the sum of ₦5 million, with one surety also in the same amount. The surety must be a level thirteen civil servant residing within the court’s jurisdiction and must provide a passport photograph for verification.
The court adjourned the matter to March 23, 2026, for trial. The case continues to attract public attention due to the actress’s high-profile status and the nature of the cyberstalking allegations.
