NPA announces arrival of eight vessels at Lagos ports

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced the arrival of eight vessels at major Lagos ports, including Lekki, Tin-Can Island and Apapa, as maritime activities continue to pick up in the nation’s commercial hub.

According to the NPA’s latest Shipping Position report released on Tuesday, the vessels are currently awaiting clearance to discharge various consignments. The cargoes onboard include bulk urea, sugar, gypsum, base oil and empty containers, reflecting steady import activity across different sectors of the economy.

The authority also revealed that 28 additional ships are expected to berth at the Apapa, Lekki and Tin-Can Island ports between January 27 and February 6. These incoming vessels will be carrying petroleum products, food items and other general cargoes needed to support domestic consumption and industrial use.

Items listed among the expected consignments include bulk wheat and gypsum, fresh fish, petrol, bulk gas, crude oil and containerised goods. Meanwhile, 22 vessels are already at the ports actively offloading cargo such as containers, crude oil, alkaline substances, base oil, bulk clinker, wheat, gypsum, urea and empty containers, indicating sustained port operations in Lagos.
