Don’t publicise our discussions after visiting me in prison – Nnamdi Kanu warns

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has instructed visitors to Sokoto Correctional Centre not to make public statements or broadcasts about their discussions with him. Kanu emphasized that any messages intended for the public will only be communicated through his lawyers or close associates, including Emma Powerful.

Kanu, who is serving a life sentence, clarified that he does not accept money from visitors. Speaking through his lawyer, Nnemeka Ejiofor, he stated that visiting him is not a source of income and that no visitor has ever been required to pay for access.

According to Ejiofor, anyone wishing to meet Kanu must adhere strictly to the prison’s established protocol, which involves providing proper identification, a passport photograph, and completing the official visitor form for screening and final approval by Kanu.

The announcement underlines Kanu’s intention to control information about his activities in custody, ensuring that only verified messages are communicated while maintaining transparency in his official interactions within the correctional system.
