ICPC urges students to embrace integrity, shun corruption, social vices

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Ondo State has urged students and young people to build strong moral values and reject corruption and social vices. The call was made as part of efforts to shape responsible future leaders and promote ethical behaviour among youths.

Speaking at the National Ethics and Integrity Policy (NEIP) sensitisation programme held in Akure, the Head of ICPC Public Education Unit in Ondo State, Mr Ganiu Jenmi, explained that the five-day programme was designed to instil integrity and ethical awareness in secondary school students. The programme was organised in collaboration with the Ondo State Ministry of Education.

Jenmi stressed that education should go beyond academics, noting that students must be guided by honesty, discipline, accountability and patriotism. He warned that corruption often begins with small acts such as examination malpractice, bullying and stealing, urging students to change their mindset and always choose what is right.

He also encouraged schools and students to form ICPC Integrity Clubs, revealing that about 160 schools across Ondo State have already embraced the initiative. According to him, fighting corruption must start early, with young people making value-driven decisions both in and outside the classroom.
