A 24-year-old woman, identified as Jessica Anthony from Delta State, has confessed to contacting suspected armed robbers to rob her boyfriend in a failed plot to raise money. According to the police, she planned to extort about ₦7 million to help pay her sister’s hospital bills.

Jessica was arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command after her plan collapsed. The police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the details while interviewing the suspect in a video shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. He explained that the suspect approached some known criminals to carry out the robbery.

However, luck ran out on her when one of the individuals she contacted turned out to know her boyfriend personally. Instead of going ahead with the plan, the individual played along and alerted the authorities, leading to her arrest by the police.

During questioning, Jessica admitted her role in the plot. She said she was desperate to get money for her sister’s medical treatment and planned for the robbers to steal her boyfriend’s gold. Police say investigations are ongoing, and the case serves as a warning about the serious consequences of turning to crime, even under pressure.
