It’s unacceptable – Arewa youths lament abduction from Kaduna churches

The Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership (AYAGL) has strongly criticised the abduction of over 160 people from churches and nearby communities in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The group described the incident as unacceptable and inhumane, warning that such attacks pose a serious danger to peace and security in Northern Nigeria. According to the youths, the kidnappings reportedly took place during worship, making the situation even more disturbing.

In a statement released on Wednesday, AYAGL said it was shocked and deeply saddened by the development. The group noted that the victims included women, children, and elderly persons who had gathered for religious and community activities. It added that the attack reflects a troubling trend of mass abductions and violent crimes spreading across Kaduna State and other parts of the North, leaving many residents in constant fear.

The youth assembly called on the Kaduna State governor, other Northern governors, the federal government, and security agencies to take firm and coordinated action. According to AYAGL, repeated assurances are no longer enough, as communities need visible and effective security measures. The group urged authorities to focus on intelligence-led operations, increase security presence in rural areas, and ensure that those responsible for the abductions are brought to justice.

AYAGL also expressed solidarity with the affected families and communities, stressing that the continuous loss of freedom and safety among innocent citizens must stop. Signed by its president, Ambassador Abdul Danbature, the statement reaffirmed the group’s commitment to promoting peace, justice, and responsible leadership. The assembly warned that Northern Nigeria cannot experience real development as long as insecurity remains unchecked.
