The Nigerian military has disclosed that notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, is now under intense pressure and operating in panic mode as security forces intensify operations across the North-West. According to the army, sustained military action has disrupted the activities of Turji and other armed group leaders, forcing them into constant movement to avoid capture.
The Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Warrah Idris, made this known while speaking to defence correspondents during an operational tour in Zamfara State. He explained that a combination of ground offensives, human intelligence, and advanced surveillance technology has narrowed the space for criminal elements in the region.
General Idris said recent intelligence reports show that Bello Turji is increasingly confused and unsettled due to the scale and consistency of military operations. He noted that the bandit leader now relocates frequently, sometimes within hours or days, as troops continue to close in on him and his network.
The army commander also dismissed claims that Turji controls any local government or community, describing such reports as false propaganda. He stressed that someone without a fixed base cannot claim control over any territory, daring the bandit leader to publicly identify a single local government under his control. The military reassured Nigerians of its commitment to sustaining pressure until lasting peace is restored in the region.
