I won’t use force to acquire Greenland – Trump

President Donald Trump has stated that he would not use force to take control of Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark. Speaking at a summit in Davos on Wednesday, Trump emphasized that the United States must still maintain interest in the mineral-rich island without resorting to aggression.

Trump insisted, “I don’t have to use force. I don’t want to use force. I won’t use force,” reassuring world leaders that any U.S. engagement with Greenland would be diplomatic rather than military. He acknowledged Greenland’s strategic importance but underscored the need for negotiations and ownership through peaceful means.

The remarks come amid renewed global interest in Greenland’s natural resources, including rare minerals and strategic Arctic positioning. Trump’s statement clarifies his administration’s approach to pursuing economic and geopolitical opportunities in the region.

Observers note that while the U.S. is keen on Greenland for its resources and location, Trump’s comments aim to avoid escalating tensions with Denmark and other international stakeholders. Diplomacy, rather than force, remains the focus for U.S. policy regarding Greenland.
