Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has urged the Nigerian Armed Forces to deal decisively with terrorists and bandits, describing them as criminals and enemies of the state who must be confronted without hesitation. He made this call while receiving the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, at the Government House in Jos.
The governor stressed that the military should intensify operations across Plateau State to completely flush out terrorists and restore lasting peace. According to him, such criminal groups threaten Nigeria’s sovereignty and must never be treated lightly. Mutfwang noted that although the state has experienced relative calm under his administration, isolated attacks remain a concern that must be addressed firmly.
Mutfwang also encouraged the army not to relax because of past successes but to carry out mop-up operations to eliminate remaining threats. He praised the military’s efforts so far, saying their presence has helped many communities feel safer, and expressed hope that security challenges would reduce further during the tenure of the current army leadership.
In response, the Chief of Army Staff assured the governor of the military’s commitment to improving security in Plateau State. He said the challenges were manageable and pledged that the army would continue working with other stakeholders to reduce insecurity and protect lives and property across the state.
