The Ogun State Government has started a traffic re-engineering programme on major roads across the state to reduce frequent accidents and improve the flow of vehicles. The initiative focuses on redesigning accident-prone areas and correcting traffic bottlenecks that often lead to crashes.
According to officials, the project includes installing proper road signs, redesigning intersections, creating safer pedestrian crossings, and adjusting traffic lanes where necessary. The government said these measures are aimed at making roads safer for motorists, commuters, and pedestrians.
Authorities noted that many accidents in the state are caused by poor road design, speeding, and lack of clear traffic control. By re-engineering key routes, the state hopes to reduce human errors and improve overall road safety, especially on busy highways and urban roads.
The government urged road users to cooperate with traffic officers and obey new traffic rules during the exercise. Residents were also advised to be patient as temporary disruptions may occur, assuring that the long-term benefits will lead to safer and more efficient transportation across Ogun State.
