APC: Abubakar Atiku’s defection- Emulate ex-VP’s political tolerance – Eze to Tinubu

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has urged President Bola Tinubu to emulate the political tolerance demonstrated by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar following his recent defection. Eze said Atiku’s reaction showed maturity and respect for democratic principles, qualities that should be encouraged in Nigerian politics.

Eze noted that political defection is a normal feature of democracy and should not be treated with hostility or bitterness. According to him, Atiku’s calm disposition after the defection reflects his long experience in politics and his belief in freedom of association, which is guaranteed by the constitution.

The APC chieftain stressed that leaders must set the right example by allowing political opponents and party members to make choices without fear or intimidation. He added that tolerance and dialogue are key to strengthening democracy and reducing political tension across the country.

Eze therefore advised President Tinubu and other political leaders to adopt a more accommodating approach to dissenting views. He said embracing political tolerance would promote unity, deepen democratic culture, and help Nigeria move forward despite differences in political alignment.
