The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has paid tribute to Nigerian soldiers who lost their lives while serving the country. He said their sacrifices are the reason Nigeria remains united, democratic and stable. According to him, the country’s progress is built on the courage and commitment of those who stood up to defend it, even at the cost of their own lives.
In a message shared to mark Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Yilwatda said the fallen soldiers gave up personal dreams, families and future plans so the nation could remain safe. He explained that their sacrifice was not symbolic but deeply personal, because every fallen hero represents a home that lost a loved one and a nation that gained protection.
The APC chairman also expressed support for injured soldiers, retired veterans and families of fallen officers who still live with the emotional and physical consequences of war. He said the bravery of the armed forces lives on in the peace Nigeria continues to pursue, and their efforts should never be taken for granted or forgotten.
Yilwatda urged Nigerians to honour the fallen by showing greater love for the country, unity among citizens and commitment to peace. He added that remembrance should go beyond ceremonies and become a reminder of the duty every citizen has to protect Nigeria’s future. He prayed for the souls of the fallen heroes and encouraged Nigerians to let their example inspire patriotism and responsibility.
