The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged residents of Oyo State to obtain and use their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) as a key tool to shape the future ahead of the 2027 general elections. The commission highlighted the importance of active participation in the democratic process.
During a civic engagement event, INEC officials emphasized that every voter has a role to play in determining the leadership of the country. They noted that having a PVC is not only a legal requirement to vote but also a civic responsibility to influence governance.
The commission encouraged residents to ensure their voter cards are valid and up to date, stressing that the card empowers citizens to have a voice in choosing political leaders who will represent their interests at local, state, and national levels.
INEC also appealed to stakeholders, civil society organizations, and community leaders to educate the public on the significance of voter registration and participation. They reminded voters that the 2027 elections will significantly impact policies, development, and governance across Nigeria.
