Kaduna: Customs rakes in N14.6bn in Q4, records 35% revenue surge

The Nigeria Customs Service in Kaduna has recorded a major boost in revenue, generating N14.6 billion in the fourth quarter of the year. The figure represents a 35 per cent increase compared to the same period in the previous year, showing stronger enforcement and improved compliance among traders and importers.

Customs officials attributed the growth to tighter border controls, better monitoring of cargo movement, and increased use of digital tracking systems. They also said that improved cooperation with other security agencies helped to reduce smuggling and revenue leakages across the Kaduna axis.

According to the command, traders are now more aware of customs regulations and penalties, which has encouraged higher levels of voluntary compliance. Regular stakeholder engagement and public awareness campaigns were also cited as key factors behind the improved revenue performance.

The Kaduna Customs Command expressed optimism that the positive trend would continue into the new year, promising to strengthen its operations while ensuring trade facilitation, transparency, and accountability in line with national economic goals.
