Anambra State First Lady, Mrs. Nkechi Soludo, has drawn public attention to the increasing rate of cardiovascular-related deaths, urging citizens to take preventive measures to protect their heart health. She noted that heart diseases are now among the leading causes of death in Nigeria, affecting people of all ages.
Speaking during a health awareness event in the state, Mrs. Soludo emphasized the importance of regular check-ups, balanced diets, and physical exercise. She advised residents to monitor blood pressure, cholesterol, and sugar levels to catch potential health issues early.
Mrs. Soludo also highlighted lifestyle factors that contribute to heart problems, such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and sedentary habits. She encouraged individuals to adopt heart-friendly routines, including consuming more fruits and vegetables, reducing salt intake, and staying active.
The First Lady concluded by stressing the role of community engagement in health promotion. She urged families, schools, and community organizations to join efforts in educating people about cardiovascular risks and prevention, noting that awareness is the first step toward reducing preventable deaths.
