Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his renewed commitment to national security during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day service at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta. The governor highlighted the federal government’s efforts to strengthen intelligence coordination, improve inter-agency collaboration, provide modern equipment, and enhance the welfare of troops.
Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun said these interventions were already yielding positive results, boosting public confidence in Nigeria’s security system. He urged citizens to promote peace, unity, and patriotism, emphasizing that national security is a collective responsibility requiring cooperation from all Nigerians.
The governor also described the Remembrance Day as a time for thanksgiving and reflection, honoring fallen heroes and recommitting to the values of courage, selflessness, and sacrifice. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to supporting serving officers, veterans, and families of those who lost their lives in service to the nation.
During the service, Ven. Dr. Samson Popoola of Christ Chapel of Grace and Mercy noted that the sacrifices of servicemen go beyond the battlefield, including long separation from families and personal hardships. He urged both government and citizens to support these heroes and encouraged personnel to remain committed, assuring them that their sacrifices are divinely acknowledged.
