Support military, visit barracks, IDP camps – Gov Alia urges Benue residents

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has urged residents of the state to show stronger support for the military by visiting barracks and internally displaced persons (IDP) camps. He said such visits would boost the morale of security personnel and bring comfort to families affected by violence and displacement.

The governor explained that soldiers are making huge sacrifices to protect communities, often under difficult conditions. He said when citizens appreciate and support them, it encourages the troops to remain committed to their duty of defending lives and property.

Alia also appealed to residents to show compassion to people living in IDP camps, noting that many of them lost their homes and livelihoods due to insecurity. He said community visits, donations and kind gestures can help restore hope and dignity to displaced families.

The governor called on individuals, faith groups, businesses and civil society organisations to work together in supporting peace efforts. He stressed that security is a shared responsibility and that unity, empathy and cooperation are needed to restore lasting peace in Benue State.
