Businessman and political stakeholder Tonye Cole has raised concerns about the safety of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, saying the governor is “not safe where he is” amid the ongoing political tension in the state. Cole’s statement has added a new layer to the already heated political atmosphere in Rivers.
He warned that the prolonged power struggle and rising hostility could put both political leaders and ordinary citizens at risk. According to him, the crisis has moved beyond party disagreements and now carries serious security implications that should not be ignored.
Cole called on security agencies and the Federal Government to take proactive steps to protect lives and prevent the situation from escalating further. He stressed that political rivalry should never be allowed to threaten peace, stability or personal safety.
He also appealed to all political actors in Rivers State to embrace dialogue and restraint, noting that lasting solutions can only come through calm engagement, respect for democratic institutions and a genuine commitment to peace.
