I won’t support Fubara’s impeachment’ – Joe Igbokwe calls for immediate intervention
Joe Igbokwe, a prominent Lagos politician, has stated that he will not support any attempt to impeach Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara. Speaking on recent political developments in the state, Igbokwe urged stakeholders to step in immediately and resolve tensions rather than pursuing impeachment, which he described as harmful to governance and public interest.
According to Igbokwe, political disputes should be addressed through dialogue and institutional mechanisms, not through extreme measures that could destabilize the state. He emphasized that Fubara, as the elected governor, should be allowed to carry out his mandate without unnecessary political interference or threats of removal.
The Lagos politician also called on Rivers State leaders, political parties, and civic groups to prioritize peace and cooperation. Igbokwe warned that moves to impeach the governor could worsen political divisions and disrupt development projects already underway in the state.
Political analysts say Igbokwe’s stance reflects growing concerns about the impact of power struggles on governance in Rivers. They noted that public calls for intervention could help mediate disputes and maintain stability while encouraging constructive dialogue between Fubara and his critics.
