Barking dog made you governor – Wike replies Fubara

Rivers State Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has responded sharply to comments made by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Wike stated that it was “a barking dog” that paved the way for Fubara’s rise to the governorship, emphasizing that political opportunism, rather than merit, played a significant role.

Speaking during a recent interaction with journalists, Wike criticized what he described as attempts by Fubara to rewrite history and diminish the efforts of those who contributed to his political journey. He accused the governor of failing to uphold promises made during their earlier peace agreements.

The former governor stressed that leadership in Rivers State should prioritize integrity and the welfare of citizens, rather than focus on personal political gains. Wike warned that attempts to undermine experienced leaders could destabilize governance and public confidence in the administration.

The exchange underscores the ongoing tensions between Wike and Fubara, months after President Bola Tinubu brokered a peace deal between them. Political analysts note that these verbal clashes could shape the dynamics of upcoming elections in Rivers State.
