North has tolerated too much poverty and corruption – Says Vice President Shettima

Northern Nigeria has been facing serious challenges, including poverty, corruption, and poor leadership. These issues have persisted for so long that they have deeply affected the lives of the people, especially the younger generation. Vice President Kashim Shettima recently addressed these concerns, urging for change and a better future.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony for students of Hau’wa Memorial School, Shettima highlighted the alarming situation in Northern Nigeria. He pointed out that the ongoing problems have led to a generation of young people who feel disconnected from the values of respect for authority and the rule of law. According to Shettima, the recent cases of vandalism and looting in the region are signs of the frustration and anger felt by the youth.

Shettima, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmad, expressed his concern over the current state of the region. He emphasized that the lack of opportunities and hope for a better future has driven young people to act out in destructive ways. They feel abandoned by the government and believe that those in power do not care about their struggles.

The vice president urged the youth to use their energy and anger to bring about positive change rather than turning to violence. He stressed the importance of addressing the flaws in the political system and producing better leadership. Shettima called on parents to take a more active role in the upbringing of their children, ensuring they grow up with values of hard work and integrity.

Shettima also reassured the graduates that the government is committed to creating an environment where they can succeed. He encouraged them to stay focused on their education and pursue their dreams, knowing that change is possible if they work hard and believe in a better Nigeria.
