We can’t keep normalising what’s not normal – Peter Obi
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has warned Nigerians against becoming comfortable with things that are clearly wrong. According to him, the country is slowly getting used to bad leadership, poor services, and injustice, which he said should never be accepted as normal.
Obi explained that when people stop questioning problems like insecurity, poor education, unemployment, and bad governance, leaders feel no pressure to improve. He said citizens must always demand better standards and accountability from those in power.
He added that accepting poor performance as normal only deepens Nigeria’s challenges and delays progress. Obi stressed that societies grow when people refuse to tolerate failure and insist on fairness, competence, and responsibility.
The former Anambra governor urged Nigerians to speak up, stay informed, and actively participate in holding leaders accountable. He said change will only happen when citizens decide that what is wrong should no longer be treated as normal.
