Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the appointment of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Dalijan, as the new Commandant of the state’s Civil Protection Guard (CPG). The move is part of the government’s plan to strengthen security and improve safety across communities facing security challenges.
The governor’s decision is seen as a step toward bringing more experience and professionalism into the state’s local security system. With his long years in the Nigeria Police Force, Dalijan is expected to bring discipline, better coordination, and strategic leadership to the Civil Protection Guard.
Government officials say the new commandant will work closely with security agencies, traditional leaders, and community groups to prevent crime and respond quickly to threats. His role will include intelligence gathering, patrol coordination, and ensuring that the CPG operates within the law and respects human rights.
Residents have welcomed the appointment, expressing hope that it will lead to better protection of lives and property in Zamfara. Many believe that with a seasoned security expert in charge, the state can make meaningful progress in tackling insecurity and restoring peace.
