Former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has criticized Governor Siminal Fubara for allegedly replacing a traditional ruler who was hospitalized. Wike described the action as disrespectful to the institution of traditional leadership and insensitive to the monarch’s condition.
According to Wike, the move undermines cultural norms and sets a poor precedent for governance in the state. He urged the government to respect the dignity of traditional leaders and wait for their recovery before making any administrative changes.
The former governor also highlighted the importance of traditional institutions in maintaining social cohesion and community stability. He warned that such actions could create unnecessary tension and conflict between the government and local communities.
Wike called on authorities to prioritize dialogue with the affected palace and community leaders to resolve the situation peacefully, emphasizing that governance should be conducted with respect for cultural values.
