A security expert has raised concerns over the effectiveness of the initial US airstrikes in Nigeria, stating that the first strikes failed to hit the intended individuals and terrorist groups. According to the analyst, the operations did not completely neutralize the high-profile targets that were meant to be eliminated.
The expert explained that while the strikes may have disrupted some terrorist activities temporarily, the primary threats remain at large. This situation, he warned, could allow insurgents and bandits to regroup and continue threatening communities in northern Nigeria.
He urged both Nigerian authorities and their international partners to review intelligence and strike planning to ensure that future operations are precise and effective. Proper coordination, he added, is essential to avoid repeated misses and to maximize the impact of military interventions.
Finally, the security analyst called for continuous monitoring of affected areas and the use of updated intelligence to target the most critical terrorist leaders. He stressed that without improved accuracy, airstrikes alone may not bring lasting peace to Nigeria’s conflict-prone regions.
