A fire outbreak has destroyed a mechanic workshop in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, causing heavy losses to vehicle owners and artisans operating in the area. The incident reportedly happened in the early hours, sending panic through the neighbourhood as thick smoke rose from the site.

Eyewitnesses said the fire spread quickly, damaging several vehicles, spare parts, tools, and equipment before help could arrive. Although firefighters were eventually mobilised, most of the items in the workshop were already destroyed by the time the flames were brought under control.

Preliminary findings suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault, though authorities are yet to confirm the exact cause. Fortunately, no deaths were recorded, but some people sustained minor injuries while trying to salvage property from the workshop.

Residents have called on the government to improve fire safety awareness and response time, especially in commercial areas. They also urged artisans to adopt safer practices to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future.
