Cheng Pei Ming, a 58-year-old survivor of China’s forced organ harvesting, has bravely decided to share his terrifying experience. Cheng, who now lives in the United States, was the first known person to survive this horrific practice. He was tortured and had parts of his liver and lung removed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because of his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual movement.
In the early 1990s, Falun Gong became popular in China, but in 1999, the CCP banned it and began brutally suppressing its followers. During this time, China’s organ transplantation industry rapidly grew, with organs available quickly in state-run hospitals.
Cheng was first arrested in 1999 for practicing Falun Gong. He endured years of torture, multiple kidnappings, and imprisonment. In 2004, while serving an eight-year sentence, Cheng was forcibly taken to a hospital where his organs were removed without his consent. He woke up three days later, chained to a bed, and in extreme pain.
Despite the CCP’s efforts to silence him, Cheng eventually escaped China, living in hiding for nearly a decade. He reached the United States in 2020, where he finally felt safe. Now, Cheng is determined to tell his story and expose the CCP’s cruelty to the world.
Cheng’s testimony is crucial as it provides the first live witness account of the CCP’s organ harvesting atrocities. It serves as a warning to the world about the human rights abuses happening in China. Cheng hopes that by sharing his experience, the international community will take action to stop these horrific practices and protect other Falun Gong practitioners.
