The Warri, Agbarho, and Clans of the Niger Delta (WACCIMA) have called on the Delta State Government to ensure that oil companies relocate their head offices to the Niger Delta region. The group said that relocating these offices would boost local development and create more employment opportunities for residents.
WACCIMA emphasized that the presence of corporate headquarters in the region would also improve transparency and accountability in the management of oil resources. The group stressed that most oil profits currently benefit areas far from the Niger Delta, leaving local communities underdeveloped.
The Delta Government was urged to enforce policies that encourage oil firms to invest locally. WACCIMA highlighted that relocating offices would not only benefit the region economically but also strengthen community relations and corporate social responsibility.
Residents and stakeholders have welcomed the call, saying that it could lead to sustainable development in the Niger Delta. They hope that government and oil companies will take decisive steps to address historical inequalities and ensure a fair distribution of resources.
