Plateau Attacks: ‘Bandits have stopped us from harvesting our crops’ – Victims cry out

Residents of several communities in Plateau State have cried out after fresh attacks by bandits forced them to abandon their farmlands. Many victims said they can no longer visit their farms to harvest crops they worked so hard to plant. According to them, any attempt to return to the farms could lead to more killings or kidnappings, as armed groups continue to terrorize the area.

Community members explained that the attacks have destroyed their means of survival. Farmers who depend on their crops for food and income now face hunger and uncertainty. Some families said they have watched their maize, millet and beans rot in the fields because they cannot go back. They also fear that the crisis may lead to a serious shortage of food in the coming months.

Victims are calling on the government and security agencies to urgently protect the affected villages. They want more patrols, better equipment for security operatives and quick action to recover their farmlands from criminals. Residents believe that if the situation continues, many families will be displaced and may never recover from their losses.

Local leaders have also appealed for relief materials and support for the struggling communities. They insist that peace must be restored so farmers can safely return to their lands. Until then, the people say they remain trapped, frightened and unable to harvest the crops they planted with hope.
