The Tinubu Optimistic Movement (TOM) has appealed to politicians in Osun State to remain calm and respectful as preparations for the 2026 governorship election begin. The group said political tension is already rising and warned that aggressive statements and heated confrontations could create unnecessary conflict among supporters.
TOM noted that elections should be about presenting ideas, not causing fear or division. The group encouraged all political parties to promote peaceful campaigns and avoid actions that may disrupt public order. According to TOM, Osun can only experience growth when its leaders focus on development rather than hostility.
The organisation also advised youths to resist being used for violence or political thuggery. It stressed that young people should take part in democratic processes responsibly, adding that peaceful participation is key to credible elections. TOM promised to continue sensitising communities across the state on the importance of harmony during election seasons.
As the 2026 election draws closer, TOM called on security agencies, traditional leaders, and civil society organisations to help maintain stability. They emphasised that cooperation among all stakeholders will ensure a free, fair, and trouble-free election. The group believes that Osun can set an example for peaceful democracy if everyone plays their part.
