Nigerian forward Adelani Ibrahim has completed a move from Ikorodu City FC to Bulgarian top-flight club Botev Plovdiv. The transfer marks a major step in the youngster’s career as he switches from the Nigerian league to European football. Ikorodu City confirmed his departure, praising his commitment and wishing him success in his new journey abroad.
Adelani played a key role for Ikorodu City during the last campaign, delivering strong performances that attracted attention from clubs outside Nigeria. His speed, strength, and ability to score important goals made him one of the brightest players in the NNL. Scouts from Bulgaria reportedly monitored him for months before finalising the deal.
Botev Plovdiv, one of the oldest and most respected clubs in Bulgaria, believes Adelani will bring fresh energy to their attack. The club is currently rebuilding its squad and sees the Nigerian forward as a promising addition who can grow into a major asset. Adelani is expected to join preseason training immediately as he settles into his new environment.
Fans of Ikorodu City have expressed mixed feelings—happy to see one of their stars move to Europe but sad to lose a key player. Many say the transfer shows the growing recognition of Nigerian talents abroad. Supporters hope Adelani will represent Ikorodu City proudly and open more doors for other players from the club.
