The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced enforcement action on 1,095 properties whose leases were revoked due to non-payment of ground rent. The agency stated that this action is part of its ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with land use regulations in the FCT.
FCTA explained that the affected properties span residential and commercial areas. Owners who failed to settle outstanding ground rent for several years have had their leases revoked, and enforcement measures will now be applied to reclaim compliance.
The administration urged property owners to regularize their payments to avoid legal action. FCTA emphasized that adherence to ground rent policies is crucial for the orderly development of the capital city and to prevent disputes over land ownership.
In conclusion, the FCTA warned that strict measures will continue until all outstanding ground rent obligations are met. The government reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing land laws fairly while giving property owners an opportunity to regularize their accounts.
