FCT minister approves enforcement actions on 1,095 properties – FCTA

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced that the FCT Minister has approved enforcement actions on 1,095 properties across Abuja. According to officials, these properties violated development rules, land use regulations, or were abandoned without proper documentation. The ministry said the decision followed months of verification and site inspections carried out by its agencies.

FCTA explained that many of the affected properties had issues such as illegal extensions, lack of approved building plans, and encroachment on public spaces. Some were also found to be posing safety risks to residents due to poor structural integrity. The administration noted that correcting these violations is important for maintaining order and protecting lives in the city.

The ministry stressed that the enforcement will be done in phases. Property owners have been advised to present their legal documents or apply for regularisation where possible. FCTA added that it is open to dialogue but will not tolerate any development that compromises Abuja’s masterplan or endangers the public.

Authorities also urged residents to cooperate with the enforcement teams and report illegal developments in their areas. They said the goal is to create a cleaner, safer, and well-organised capital city. The FCTA reassured the public that all actions will follow due process and respect human rights.
