Uganda has announced the discovery of an estimated 600 million barrels of crude oil, marking a historic milestone for the country’s energy sector. Officials said the find could significantly boost Uganda’s economy and energy production capacity.
The discovery was made in the Albertine Graben region, which has been a key focus area for oil exploration. Experts believe the reserves could attract foreign investment and create thousands of jobs in the coming years.
Authorities highlighted plans to develop infrastructure, including refineries and pipelines, to efficiently extract and transport the crude oil. They emphasized that environmental and safety regulations would guide all development activities.
Analysts noted that the discovery positions Uganda as an emerging player in the African oil market. They called for careful management of the resources to ensure long-term economic benefits and sustainable development.
