The family of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has claimed that he was a victim of a judicial ambush and denied a fair hearing during his trial. They alleged that court proceedings were rushed and did not allow adequate time for proper legal representation or preparation, raising serious concerns about justice and due process.
According to the family, Kanu’s rights to a transparent trial were compromised, and important evidence was reportedly ignored. They emphasised that such actions violate legal standards and undermine public confidence in the judiciary. The family called on authorities to address these issues to ensure that Kanu and other defendants receive fair treatment under the law.
They also urged the Nigerian government and judicial institutions to uphold the principles of justice and equality before the law. The family warned that continued disregard for proper legal processes could escalate tensions and further polarise communities, highlighting the importance of impartiality in sensitive political cases.
Finally, Kanu’s family appealed to the international community and human rights organisations to monitor the situation closely. They stressed that public awareness and accountability are crucial to preventing miscarriages of justice. The family remains hopeful that renewed attention will lead to a fair review of the trial and respect for Kanu’s legal rights.
