Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency to tackle the worsening insecurity across Nigeria. Atiku stressed that immediate and decisive action is needed to protect citizens and restore peace in affected areas.
He highlighted the alarming rise in kidnappings, banditry, and violent crimes, warning that the current security situation threatens national stability and economic growth. Atiku called on the government to prioritize security reforms and strengthen law enforcement agencies to effectively combat these threats.
According to Atiku, citizens are losing confidence in the government’s ability to provide safety, which could have long-term social and political consequences. He emphasized that a state of emergency would signal commitment to protecting Nigerians and reducing the impact of insecurity on communities.
The former vice president concluded by urging Tinubu’s administration to act swiftly, stressing that proactive measures are critical to preventing further loss of lives and property.
