Residents in parts of Oyo State have raised fresh concerns over rising cases of killings, armed robbery, and violent attacks in their communities. They appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to urgently intervene, saying the level of insecurity has left many people living in fear. According to the residents, criminal activities have increased in recent weeks, with several homes and businesses targeted by armed gangs.
The community members explained that despite reporting incidents to local security agencies, the attacks have continued without meaningful response. They lamented that many families are now afraid to move around at night, and some shops now close earlier than usual to avoid danger. The residents say they can no longer go about their daily activities safely.
They urged Governor Makinde to deploy more security personnel, strengthen local vigilance groups, and provide better equipment for law enforcement agencies. They also called for regular patrols in high-risk areas, stressing that immediate action is needed to prevent more lives from being lost.
The residents appealed for long-term measures such as youth empowerment, job creation, and improved community policing. They insisted that lasting peace will only be achieved when the government addresses both security challenges and the root causes of crime in the state.
