Parliamentary workers in Bauchi State have shut down the State House of Assembly over unresolved grievances related to salaries and working conditions. The workers staged a protest, effectively bringing legislative activities to a halt and drawing attention to their demands for better treatment and timely remuneration.
According to sources, the strike has disrupted the passage of bills and other legislative business, creating concern among lawmakers and residents who rely on the Assembly’s functions for governance and development initiatives. Negotiations between the workers and Assembly leadership are yet to yield a resolution.
The Bauchi State government has called for calm, urging both parties to engage in dialogue to resolve the dispute swiftly. Officials emphasized the importance of ensuring that legislative work resumes promptly to avoid further setbacks in governance.
Meanwhile, parliamentary workers insist that their demands must be addressed before normal operations can continue. The strike highlights ongoing tensions between civil servants and government authorities over employment conditions and fair treatment.
