The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the Northern region has expressed strong concern over what it describes as the denial and downplaying of targeted killings against Christians in parts of the country. According to the group, refusing to acknowledge these violent attacks is not only unfair to victims but also deeply painful to the wider Christian community.
Northern CAN stressed that many families have lost loved ones in repeated attacks on churches and Christian communities, yet some leaders continue to dismiss or ignore the pattern of violence. The association noted that recognizing the reality of the situation is the first step toward justice, healing, and meaningful security solutions.
The group further urged government authorities and security agencies to take firm and transparent steps to protect vulnerable communities. They also called on the public to avoid politicizing the suffering of victims, insisting that human lives must not be used for political or religious arguments.
Northern CAN maintains that true peace and unity can only be achieved when every group’s pain is acknowledged, and justice is served. The association encouraged Nigerians to stand together against violence, regardless of religious or ethnic background.
