Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja following his participation in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) held recently in Brazil. The conference brought together world leaders, climate experts, and policymakers to discuss strategies for combating global warming and promoting sustainable development.
During the COP30 summit, Shettima highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to addressing climate change through initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting renewable energy. He also engaged in discussions with other international delegates on climate financing, adaptation measures, and global cooperation.
Upon his return, Shettima reaffirmed the need for Nigeria to strengthen policies on environmental protection and climate resilience. He emphasized that the country must implement practical strategies to safeguard its natural resources while supporting communities vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
The Vice President noted that participation in global climate forums is crucial for Nigeria to access international support and expertise. He urged government agencies, the private sector, and civil society to collaborate in tackling climate challenges and achieving sustainable development goals.
Shettima concluded by assuring Nigerians that the lessons learned from COP30 would inform national policies and actions to address climate change, protect ecosystems, and promote economic growth through sustainable practices.
