Terrorism: You can’t convict me – Nnamdi Kanu dares Judge

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has boldly declared that he cannot be convicted in his ongoing terrorism case. Speaking after his hearing at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Kanu strongly argued that he cannot be found guilty without a legal basis. Looking visibly upset, he insisted that no judge or authority can convict him under a repealed law.

Kanu is currently facing terrorism-related charges before Justice James Omotosho. However, he maintains that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act used to charge him no longer exists, making the accusations invalid. He refused to open his defense, arguing that there is no law currently backing the charges against him.

Despite his refusal to continue with his defense, the prosecution announced the conclusion of their case. In response, Justice Omotosho set November 20 as the date for judgment in the trial, which has lasted over a decade. The judge stated that since Kanu was given a chance to defend himself but declined, the court would proceed.

In court, Kanu raised his voice while defending his position, insisting he cannot be convicted without a valid written law. He questioned the court’s authority, asking who could possibly convict him and calling it impossible. His statement reflects his continued confidence and challenge of the legal process surrounding his trial.

The high-profile case continues to generate national and international attention, with supporters and critics watching closely. As the judgment date approaches, tensions remain high, and many are eager to see how the court will rule on this long-running case.
