NEFGAD writes Tinubu over plight of Nigeria foreign mission staff, immigration attaches

The Network of Nigerians for Good Governance and Democracy (NEFGAD) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene in the challenges faced by staff of Nigerian foreign missions and immigration attaches abroad. The group expressed concern that many workers at embassies and consulates are facing financial and welfare difficulties that affect their performance and image of the country.

In a public message, NEFGAD explained that some mission staff have reportedly gone months without proper allowances, making it difficult for them to carry out official duties effectively. The group said the situation threatens morale and weakens Nigeria’s representation overseas.

The organization urged the government to quickly approve funds and strengthen support systems for embassy and immigration personnel. It also called for a long-term plan to ensure such problems do not continue, stressing that diplomatic workers must be properly supported to defend national interests successfully.

NEFGAD added that solving this issue will help restore confidence, improve service delivery, and protect Nigeria’s international reputation. The group encouraged President Tinubu’s administration to treat the matter as urgent and ensure those serving the nation abroad are not left struggling.
