The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has provided a new update on the ongoing rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries. The company confirmed that the project has moved into a new phase focused on securing top technical partners and finalizing key agreements needed to complete repairs and upgrades.
According to the Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, who shared the update via his official X handle on Wednesday, the team is entering a critical stage of planning and execution. The refineries, which were shut down for technical inspections and reviews in May 2025, are expected to undergo major upgrades to restore efficient operations.
Ojulari stated that the management is committed to ensuring the facilities deliver maximum value once they resume operations. He expressed strong optimism about the progress made so far and the future performance of the refineries after the necessary work is completed.
He added that the NNPCL team is giving the project serious attention and dedicating time to a detailed evaluation process. Ojulari emphasized that the success of the refineries is tied to the prosperity of Nigeria and will always be prioritized above personal interests.
He assured Nigerians that the company remains determined to create sustainable solutions for the refining sector, stressing that the goal is to revive the facilities and support economic growth across the country.
