Osogbo Mechanic Speaks Out About Suspected Amotekun Corps Raid on His Workshop

Babatunde Oyetunji, an auto mechanic based in Osogbo, has raised serious concerns following a dramatic incident at his workshop. According to Oyetunji, his business, located at Ring Road, opposite the NNPC Mega Station in Osogbo, was invaded by a group of armed individuals who were dressed in Amotekun uniforms.

The raid occurred on Monday, July 29, 2024, at around 10:00 am. Oyetunji had left for a work-related trip to Ibadan when the attack took place. Upon his return, he discovered that the intruders had stolen three vehicles from his workshop. In addition to the vehicles, they took new automobile engines and various gears that belonged to his customers. The total value of the stolen items is estimated to be in the millions of Naira.

Oyetunji has expressed confusion and distress over the incident, particularly because the suspects appeared to be affiliated with Amotekun, a security outfit known for its role in local law enforcement. He has stressed that the motives behind the theft remain unclear.

In light of this, Oyetunji is urgently calling for public assistance and is appealing to both the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Umar Abba, to launch a thorough investigation into the matter. The mechanic is under increasing pressure from the owners of the stolen property, who are demanding the recovery of their belongings.

The situation has left Oyetunji and his customers in a state of uncertainty, as they await answers and hope for a resolution to this troubling incident.
