Defectors will face their end in 2027 – Kwankwaso

Former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has issued a stern warning to members who have abandoned the party or the Kwankwasiyya Movement, saying they will face the political consequences of their actions in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview with BBC Hausa as part of activities marking his 69th birthday, Kwankwaso said those defecting from the NNPP are doing so at their own risk. He stressed that the movement remains strong and will not tolerate acts of betrayal, especially from those who benefitted from its structure and support in the past.

He made it clear that any politician who believes they can leave the Kwankwasiyya movement and still return to Kano to win elections is deceiving themselves. “Our movement will continue to take action against those who betray it,” he said, emphasizing that loyalty and consistency are the foundation of the political family he built over the years.

Kwankwaso also noted that his political ideology is not based on hatred or personal vendetta but rooted in principles, discipline, and loyalty. He added that the NNPP remains focused on expanding its influence across Nigeria ahead of 2027 and ensuring that only trustworthy members represent the party’s interests.

The former lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to the NNPP’s vision and the growth of the Kwankwasiyya movement, insisting that the party will continue to reward loyalty while isolating betrayal. He encouraged members to remain steadfast as the movement prepares for a stronger political showing in the next election.
