Former Manchester United assistant coach, Rene Meulensteen, has tipped Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool as the main contenders for the Premier League title this season.
Speaking with CasinoHawks, as reported by Metro UK, Meulensteen said the title race will have “little twists and turns,” but believes the three clubs have shown consistency and quality to remain in contention till the end.
However, the ex-United coach refused to completely rule out Manchester United, despite their current ninth-place position on the Premier League table. According to him, the Red Devils could still make a comeback if they find form and go on a winning run.
“There will be little twists and turns around the corner,” Meulensteen said. “I still think Arsenal, Man City, and Liverpool will be fighting for the Premier League title, and we cannot rule out Manchester United if they go on a run we are all hoping for. They are only two points off Liverpool despite how the season has started.”
As it stands, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool occupy the top three spots in the league, while Manchester United faces pressure to rediscover their form and close the gap on their rivals.
