Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have recovered a large cache of electronic gadgets reportedly abandoned by fleeing suspects during a routine patrol in Ikeja. The operation took place near Allen Roundabout, where the suspects dropped two large “Ghana Must Go” bags and escaped upon sighting police officers.
According to a statement issued by the command, the incident occurred on Sunday, October 5, when RRS operatives intercepted the suspects. Upon inspection of the bags, police discovered 32 iPhones of various models, 38 other smartphones — including Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor — along with five laptops, several smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, a Sorapad, and multiple damaged phones suspected to have been stolen from different locations within Ikeja and its environs.
The Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, CSP Shola Jejeloye, explained that preliminary investigations confirmed the gadgets were stolen items abandoned by the suspects to avoid arrest. He assured residents that the police are intensifying efforts to track down the fleeing criminals and bring them to justice.
CSP Jejeloye also appealed to members of the public who have recently lost phones or laptops in the Ikeja area to visit the RRS Headquarters in Alausa, with verifiable proof of ownership, to reclaim their property. He emphasized that the command is committed to ensuring stolen items are returned to rightful owners while maintaining safety in the state.
The recovery once again highlights the effectiveness of police patrols in curbing theft and other criminal activities within Lagos, reinforcing the state command’s commitment to ensuring peace and order across the metropolis.
