The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the nominees for the 2025 CAF Awards, and Nigeria’s Super Falcons made an impressive showing on the list. Head coach Justine Madugu has been nominated for Coach of the Year, following his exceptional performance in leading the Super Falcons to yet another historic victory.
Madugu guided the team to their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco earlier this year, defeating the host nation 3-2 in the final. His leadership and tactical brilliance have earned him recognition among the best coaches on the continent, as he competes against nine other nominees for the prestigious award.
Also representing Nigeria is Flamingos captain Shakirat Moshood, who has been shortlisted for the CAF Young Player of the Year Award. The talented forward is set to captain the U-17 women’s national team at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, showcasing the country’s bright future in women’s football.
In addition, the Super Falcons have been nominated for National Team of the Year, following their dominant run at the continental level and consistent performance on the international stage. Their success continues to cement Nigeria’s status as a powerhouse in African women’s football.
