Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has opened up about her four-year absence from the music industry, explaining that it was a deliberate break for self-discovery, spiritual growth, and personal renewal. The talented artist said she took time away from the spotlight to focus on reconnecting with herself and understanding her purpose beyond fame.
Speaking in a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo, Seyi Shay revealed that the period of isolation was one of the most meaningful experiences of her life. She noted that the transformation began even before she became a mother, describing the process as a “gift” that allowed her to reflect deeply and gain new insights about life.
“I have done so much work over these past four years. The transformation of my mind started before I had my child. I started a journey of isolation,” she said. “There is something really good about isolation… I was blessed with hindsight, insight, and foresight. That is the biggest gift, besides my daughter, that God has given me these few years.”
The singer explained that her time in solitude not only strengthened her spiritual awareness but also reshaped her outlook on relationships and the world. According to her, she now feels more at peace, grounded, and connected to her inner self.
“My spirituality has also transformed, and I am vibrating on such a different level now,” she said. “I actually feel very comfortable with men. I love all the men. It is a man’s world.”
Seyi Shay’s reflection offers fans a glimpse into the emotional and spiritual evolution behind her new phase of life and music, highlighting how stepping away from fame can sometimes lead to deeper personal fulfillment.
