Tension has intensified in Gaza following reports that Israel handed over dozens of Palestinian bodies showing signs of execution, according to health officials and international media sources. The handover, which took place on 15 October 2025, involved 45 Palestinian bodies delivered to Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis. Medical staff said many of the bodies arrived blindfolded, shackled, and bearing gunshot wounds, with some showing signs of being run over by tanks. The bodies were tagged with numbers instead of names, pending identification.
The exchange occurred as part of a body swap deal that also saw the return of several deceased Israeli captives. However, the development has raised further questions about Israel’s adherence to international humanitarian law, especially amid numerous ceasefire violations reported since the truce began. Human rights groups have accused Israel of using excessive force, even during the agreed ceasefire period.
The Gaza Center for Human Rights reported 36 Israeli violations of the truce since 10 October, including aerial and artillery attacks that killed at least seven Palestinian civilians and injured many more. The center stated that most of these attacks occurred in eastern and northern Gaza, including Shujaiya, Jabalia, Khan Yunis, and Rafah. Witnesses described Israeli drones targeting civilians inspecting their destroyed homes.
Meanwhile, aid restrictions remain a major concern. Despite a deal that allows 600 aid trucks daily, only 173 trucks have been permitted entry in recent days. The center condemned the move, describing it as a continuation of collective punishment that could lead to famine. International observers warn that limiting humanitarian supplies to civilians amounts to a violation of international law and could constitute war crimes.
As global outrage grows, rights organizations are calling for an independent investigation into the alleged executions and ceasefire violations. They urge the international community to pressure Israel to fully implement the truce, allow unrestricted humanitarian access, and ensure accountability for any acts of genocide or extrajudicial killings committed in Gaza.
